Chicken Gyros

Ingredients:  

  • Tomatoes (sliced) 
  • Onions (sliced) 
  • Pita bread 
  • Halloumi (optional) 
  • Cucumber 
  • Yoghurt 
  • Garlic 
  • Olive oil  
  • Ground black pepper  
  • Salt  
  • Lemon juice  

Directions: 

  1. Cut the potatoes into straight 1cm thick chips and fry them until golden brown.
  2. Slice the tomatoes and onions.
  3. Warm the pita bread in toaster, oven or microwave.
  4. Add grated halloumi cheese for extra flavour (optional).

For the Tzatziki sauce: 

  1. Grate the cucumber.
  2. Press the water out of the grated cucumber to remove excess moisture.
  3. Add to a bowl.
  4. Add yoghurt, garlic, lemon, olive oil, salt and pepper, then mix well.  Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.  The leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
