Sichuan Beef

Ingredients: 

  • 300g sliced beef 
  • 100g green pepper  
  • 100g chopped onion  
  • 100g sliced bamboo shoots  
  • 1½ tsp chilli bean sauce  
  • ½ tsp salt  
  • ½ tsp monosodium glutamate (msg) 
  • ½ tsp sugar 
  • 100g sesame oil 
  • 100g potato flour  

Directions 

  1. Heat the pan over high heat, add 1 tbsp of oil and coat the wok evenly before adding the beef. 
  2. Add the beef and spread the strips evenly and brown the beef until well seared (2 – 3 minutes).  Remove the beef from the wok and set aside. 
  3. Turn the heat down to low and add 2 tbsp of oil to the wok.  Add the green pepper, bamboo shoots, onion and cook until fragrant. 
  4. Add the chilli bean paste and cook for about a minute, making sure that the vegetables are fully coated. 
  5. Immediately add the salt, msg, sugar and potato flour to the wok. 
  6. Stir quickly for about a minute and mix everything well, transfer to a dish with some rice and enjoy!
