What's the inspiration behind Foodie Bistro & Café?
Michalina first worked in hospitality as a student in Poland, using her wages to fund her studies. Like many students, she jumped at the chance to travel abroad and arrived in Scotland in 2007. 18 years later and she’s still here, along with her Polish husband, Karol, and their two children.
Combining a passion for cooking Polish cuisine with her sociable nature, Michalina initially founded her business from home while juggling parenting two small children. After cooking and delivering meals to family and friends, word quickly spread and the demand amongst the wider Polish community grew – along with the level of chaos at home!
With support from her husband and the local community, Michalina opened Foodie Bistro & Café, in 2017. Offering traditional Polish cuisine and first-class service in a relaxed setting, diners can enjoy a meal or light snack cooked by Polish chefs.
What role does Foodie Bistro & Café play in creating a sense of community and belonging?
Already popular with the local Polish community, Foodie Bistro & Café acts as a welcoming hub for Scots with family members in Poland or those simply curious to learn more about the cuisine and culture. “Sharing a Polish meal together, even remotely, can help maintain and build important family connections.” Michalina Jolanta Jakubczyk, Foodie Bistro & Café.
