Taste the Place - don’t miss:
It’s hard to choose, but we love the pierogi dumplings, award-winning beef goulash soup, sauerkraut stew, and Polish apple pie.
What's the inspiration behind U Jarka?
From southwestern Poland near the Czech border, Jarek, and his eldest daughter Kasha arrived in Scotland in 2005, with the rest of the family joining them a few months later.
As a trained and experienced chef, Jarek dreamt of using his culinary skills to introduce Glaswegians to authentic Polish cuisine. He pitched his vision to The Sikorski Polish Club, a Polish House founded in 1954, where he took over the restaurant and launched U Jarka in 2010.
Furnished with handcrafted tables and chairs from Poland, this family run business specialises in serving traditional Polish and European cuisine that has proven popular with a diverse clientele. First class customer service from Jolanta and her team, coupled with recipes passed down through generations guarantee a warm and authentic Polish experience at great value.
What role does U Jarka play in creating a sense of community and belonging?
As well as providing an authentic taste of home, the club is a hub for the local Polish community, offering support and advice on social issues. But you don’t have to be Polish to benefit from this strong community spirit – The Sikorski Polish Club also warmly welcomes members and visitors from every nationality.

Fun fact – did you know?
As part of The Herald’s article showcasing best international cuisine during COP26, U Jarka was name checked for having the city’s best goulash soup.
